Lauren + James

Lauren + James had one of the most amazing weddings ever! It was the perfect fall wedding, with the most beautiful and thoughtful details. I can honestly say, Lauren + James are some of the kindest people I have ever had the pleasure of working with. After spending just a few minutes with them, you can tell how much they completely adore each other. Despite some rainy weather, we were able to run outside for just a few moments to take some pictures in Forest Park. Photos were then followed by a candlelit ceremony at the Schlafly Tap Room (the officiant was James’s sister!) and a lovely, laid back reception. Lauren’s mom runs Spirited Events & Design so everything was handmade and crafted by Lauren and her family. The Club Room at the Schlafly Tap Room served as the perfect backdrop for this gorgeous wedding, with its open style and amazing city views (I’m in┬álove all the twinkly city lights in the background). And I can’t forget Lauren’s dress…. just fantastic! Enjoy :)

I don’t know why, but I think this photo goes down on the list of my favorite photos I’ve ever taken. It’s just so sweet!

Sometimes as adults we get caught up in all of the little things. Always looking for what’s next – constantly moving, planning, and thinking about the future. It’s hard to just relax and savor the moment, when we are constantly feeling the tug of our responsibilities calling us back to reality.

One of the best things about photographing kids is that they don’t have a worry in the world. They are able to be completely present and enjoy their life as best they know how. They let their imaginations run wild – without any fear of judgement. Everything is a great new adventure. The bench at the park can be a princesses throne, fallen branches are transformed into monsters arms! This little girl reminded me of what it was like to be a kid again – with so much adventure to be had right in your own backyard!

I think one of the best parts of my job is seeing the imagination and adventure each child I photograph has. Hearing their stories, talking about their favorite things, and of course, seeing how excited they get when I show them their photograph on my camera!

It reminds me to slow down and enjoy all of the wonderful, simple, and imaginative moments in my life.

“Do not stop thinking of life as an adventure. You have no security unless you can live bravely, excitingly, imaginatively; unless you can choose a challenge instead of a competence.” (Eleanor Roosevelt)
